Glasgow man arrested on drug charges following traffic stop

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop.

According to Glasgow Police Department Major Terry Flatt, an officer executed a traffic stop on April 8 on Brownsville Road after determining the vehicle’s registration plate had expired.

The driver is identified as 37-year-old Jessie Ray Shirley, of Glasgow.

An officer deployed K9 Chaos. Chaos detected a positive alert on the vehicle, according to Major Flatt.

Officers executed a probable cause search of the vehicle and located suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl pills, two syringes and suboxone, police say.

Shirley was arrested and transported to the Barren County Detention Center.

Shirley is charged with careless driving, no registration plates, no registration receipt, trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (> or= 2gms methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance 1st offense fentanyl, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree-drug unspecified, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense, failure to produce insurance card.

The investigation is ongoing.
