Titans’ Jeffery Simmons surprises family by paying mortgage for a year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons is known for his presence on the football field, but over the weekend, he made an impact off the field in a much different way.

The Titans defensive tackle attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony Sunday, celebrating eight Nashville families becoming homeowners.

As part of the event, the Titans partnered with Habitat for Humanity to provide each family with custom gift baskets filled with housewarming items. However, Simmons had an additional surprise for one family, announcing he would pay their mortgage for the next year.

Simmons said the gesture was personal, reflecting on his own upbringing and the importance of having a stable home.

“Being from a small town in Macon, Mississippi and bouncing from our own home, I know what it felt like to not be stable,” Simmons said. “So to be able to have a stable home, that’s what hit home.”

The event is part of the Titans’ ongoing commitment to supporting neighborhoods and families across the Nashville community.
