Kentucky State Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Estill County

IRVINE, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Estill County.

According to a release, the KSP Critical Incident Response Team was requested by Post 7 to investigate the shooting that happened in Irvine at approximately 9 pm on Thursday.

KSP CIRT says a preliminary investigation shows that Estill County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Irvine Police Department officers attempted to contact 46-year-old Christopher M. Rose, of Irvine, at a house.

Rose had an active arrest warrant and a search warrant for the property.

KSP says Rose fired several rounds from a firearm as officers approached the house and then barricaded himself inside.

The deputies and officers returned fire, according to the release.

ECSO requested KSP’s Special Response Team.

KSP SRT attempted to contact Rose into the early morning hours of Friday.

Troopers entered the home and found Rose dead.

KSP says the Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy to determine the manner of Rose’s death.

The investigation is ongoing.
