Elgedawy, Givens Propel Lady Tops Past FIU 71-51

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Raneem Elgedawy scored 21 points, Dee Givens tallied 19 points and Whitney Creech added 10 points as the Western Kentucky Lady Hilltoppers defeated Florida International, 71-51.
WKU has now won four straight and six of their last seven games after suffering a three-game skid earlier this season.
The two teams started out neck-and-neck, with the Panthers taking a narrow 14-13 lead after ten minutes of play.
FIU extended their advantage to as many as five before Western Kentucky responded with a 15-3 run over the last 4:50 0f the second quarter to take a 32-25 halftime lead.
WKU outscored FIU 22-12 in the third quarter and cruised to their decisive, 20-point victory.
With the win, the Lady Tops improve to 14-6 overall and 6-3 in Conference USA play.
Western Kentucky also keeps their unblemished record at home intact, as they are now 8-0 when playing at Diddle Arena this season.
Greg Collins’ squad will hit the road next week for a pair of Conference USA games at Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss.
