Trojanettes, Lady Cats set for 4th Region title matchup

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The 2026 4th Region Girls Basketball Tournament continued on Friday night, shrinking the final four teams down to the top two in the semifinal round.

First up, Barren County took down Monroe County 45-25.

The Trojanettes were up by 16 points at the half, and that lead held the rest of the way, with Barren never trailing through all of regulation.

Addy Slagle and Shelby Byrd led the way for Barren County, scoring 13 points and 16 points, respectively.

With the win, the Trojanettes return to the region title game for the first time since 2023.

“ You know, it’s a really good feeling to be back at this championship game. It has been a few years,” Barren County girls basketball head coach Piper Lindsey said. “I’m more excited about these girls getting an opportunity to play in that game. It’s a fun game, it’s a big game, and I’m ready for them to experience that.”

Game two saw Franklin-Simpson take down Allen County-Scottsville 74-51.

The Lady Cats, like the Trojanettes, were in full control from start to finish.

Never trailing to the Lady Patriots, Franklin saw a pair of standout offensive games from Tiffany Harrigan (24 points) and Allye Pennington (21 points).

The win sends the Lady Cats back to the 4th Region Championship for the second straight season, and they will look to repeat last year’s result against a tough Barren County squad.

Franklin-Simpson and Barren County met up twice this season, splitting the meetings, and the two teams also battled a year ago in the regional semifinals, with the Lady Cats coming out on top.

A year full of standout play across the area will cap off in Diddle Arena on Saturday night, with tipoff for the championship game set for 7 p.m.
