Kentucky Veterans Brigade and Fraternal Order of the Eagles hold food drive at annual Seven States Conference
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- On Friday and Saturday, February 20th and 21st, the Kentucky Veterans Brigade and Fraternal Order of the Eagles are hosting a food drive at the annual Seven States Conference.
The annual event brings members from the Fraternal Order of the Eagles from across the country to Bowling Green to discuss new ideas and ways to help those in need in their respective communities.
The Veterans Alliance Center also holds a food drive during the event, with every organization in attendance donating.
With each group looking to bring in more donations than the year before, the Veterans Alliance Center hopes to have plenty of food for our veterans in need.
They hope to collect around 10,000 food items over the course of the weekend, which will help tremendously in the care for our veterans.
“It’s going to help out so much. You’re not even going to believe it,” said Tessy Webb, Fundraiser Coordinator for the Veterans Alliance Center. “We probably do 200 to 300 boxes a month, given out to people. That’s the vets and the homeless vets as well.”
The event provides a space for these organizations to network and share ideas on how to help those in their communities who need it the most.
They help provide food and donations to these veterans because they gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our country, and may not have the resources to care for themselves.
“Every piece of food, every little dime helps them out to get back into the world as we see it today, because it’s very hard for them to come back in. No place to go, no place to eat,” said Charlie Martin, State President of the Kentucky Order of the Eagles. “And the Veterans Alliance is one of the best charities I’ve seen, always out there to help a veteran or anyone else thatreally needs it,” Martin added.
The Seven States Conference is going on and accepting food donations until Saturday, February 21st, with a banquet following.
