The Hive holds open house for new location in Allen County; set to open February 16th

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – The newest location of The Hive is getting ready to open in Allen County, and on Thursday, they held an open house for the community to get a first look at their facility while also announcing a partnership that’s set to start when they open on February 16th.

“There’s so many possibilities, so many opportunities that we’re going to have to serve people with disabilities and their families in this community… and Scottsville already has Camp Courageous Kids. They’ve got a lot already going in between Bowling Green and having that kind of connection between the two of us, we’ve got big dreams,” The Hive founder and executive director Laura Orsland says.

Back in December 2025, their location off of North Fourth Street just outside of downtown Scottsville hosted a ribbon cutting to kick off their tenure in Allen County.

Back then, it didn’t have much furniture. Two months later, as it gets ready to open its doors to the community, it’s all set up and staff are excited to begin their new journey.

“The support that we have been given has been truly amazing. We appreciate every single person who has donated their time to come clean, items to furnish the place and make it more welcoming. It has truly mind-boggled me to see it be nothing to now, a little clubhouse, a little fun place for people to come,” Allen County’s program manager Hannah Parker says.

As part of the new facility, they’ll be partnering with a local group called TopCrops that will come by and help members gain a new hobby.

“It teaches hands-on gardening training. They’re going to come here this year, and hopefully we can start a little greenhouse and get some plants going in here,” Parker says.

With the founders of TopCrops being Hive members themselves, it was a no-brainer to put the two together.

“When I was developing The Hive, TopCrops had just started their garden and they just had a little patch of a place, and so I’ve known the directors, I’ve known the Greer’s… and we’ve just always done our best to support each other. What we do is such a perfect partnership. It just would be tragic not to partner with them,” Orsland says.

The location will be open on Monday and Wednesday from 9 AM to 3 PM.
