BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Bowling Green man is behind bars after alleged cable thefts at an area business.

The Bowling Green Police Department says on Jan. 17, officers received a theft report from a business in the Kentucky Transpark. Officers spoke with employees and learned someone had been cutting cables from machines and stealing the materials.

Through video surveillance and other evidence, officers say they identified 43-year-old Daniel McIvor of Bowling Green as the primary suspect.

McIvor is accused of entering the facility under the pretense of completing contractor work, cutting cables from equipment, and storing them inside his personal vehicle, police say. According to police, the company said the theft value is over $272,000, with hundreds of thousands in damages.

McIvor has been charged with theft by unlawful taking (less than $1,000,000), first-degree criminal mischief and operating on a suspended operator’s license.

The investigation remains ongoing.
