Kentucky Fish and Wildlife pushes for House Bill 506 to be passed in Kentucky
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As House Bill 506 is being discussed in the state of Kentucky, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is trying to push for it to establish a pay structure and strengthening penalties for violations.
The bill will allow for the department to create competitive salaries across the state and help address the recruitment and retention issues they have been having.
It will also strengthen the penalty structure for any fish and wildlife laws broken and enforcement issues faced.
With the bill, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife will be able to better pay and serve sportsmen and women throughout the state.
“House bill 506 is very important actually to our entire agency, but also the sportsmen and women we serve. It helps to ensure we have adequate numbers of game wardens across the state that not only protect and preserve our resources but they answer the call to serve our people. Whether it be a boat accident, a lost hunter, or respond to a natural disaster,” said Col. Jeremy Mcqueary, director of Law Enforcement with Kentucky Fish and Wildlife.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife and the Kentucky Game Wardens are asking for continued support as they try to push House Bill 506.
