Local firefighters receive training to help their fellow responders

PLANO, Ky. – It may have been Tuesday night, but some local firefighters received some after-hours training in rescuing each other.

Craig Peay, a trainer with OAI Incorporated, a company that specializes in training emergency responders, says the purpose is to save the life of a fellow firefighter if a firefighter starts feeling ill. If a first responder has been working an emergency with chemicals around, it’s important to know how to get the firefighter out of harm’s way and keep themselves safe, too.

More than 20 firefighters from 4 local fire departments attended the training, which is required by Kentucky law.
