Warming shelters in the local area

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – News 40 has compiled an ongoing list of warming shelters within the viewing area, which can be found below.

Warren County 

• When temperatures are below 35 degrees, the following warming shelters are open in Warren County:
  • Daily: The Salvation Army at 400 W. Main Ave. in Bowling Green.
  • Monday, Jan. 26: The Capitol at 416 E. Main Ave. in Bowling Green. This will be open from 8 a.m. t0 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 27: First Christian Church at 1106 State St. in Bowling Green. This will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 27 through Thursday, Jan. 29: Wellness Connection at 428 Center St. in Bowling Green. This will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the days above.
  • Overnight: Room in the Inn registration will be nightly at 5 p.m. at the Live Navigation Center at 423 W. Main Ave. The Salvation Army will also operate as a white flag shelter when temperatures are below 35 degrees.
• Transportation is available if needed through the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 270-842-1633.
• Those in need can also get transportation from the Warren County Public Library’s Little Free Shuttle by contacting 270-781-4882 ext. 904.

Allen County

• The VH Dream Center states it will be operating under emergency winter weather hours and will remain open 24 hours a day until the predicted winter conditions pass. If you or someone you know needs a warm place to stay or a hot meal, you can find the VH Dream Center at 201 S. Court St. in Scottsville. The VHDC can also be contacted at 270-622-2667.
• Scottsville Volunteer Fire Department Station # 2 at 1555 New Gallatin Road in Scottsville. If you need a ride there, call 270-237-3611.

Barren County 

• Barren County YMCA says it is a certified Red Cross shelter for those who need to get out of the cold during normal business hours. Adults must have valid IDs. Barren County YMCA says registered sex offenders are not permitted.
• Bridge Kentucky says its warming room will be available 24 hours a day until the weather forecast improves. Bridge Kentucky says those in need of a warming room will need to fill out intake forms, however, they do not have to be unhoused to receive assistance.
  In addition, the organization says registered sex offenders will not be permitted. Bridge Kentucky is located at
  1411 N. Race St. Suite E in Glasgow.

Hart County 

• Hart County Veteran’s Committee at 3324 S. Dixie Highway in Horse Cave. To learn more about hours and other details, you can call 701-740-0245.
• The Way Church in Horse Cave says its warming room is open until the end of the winter weather system expected this weekend. The Way Church is located at 107 E. Main St. in Horse Cave.
