Local pantry hosting MLK food drive at State Street Baptist Church
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – There’s a new food pantry in Warren County that’s uniting churches and organizations in Bowling Green.
The MLK planning committee and the NAACP came together to figure out a way to feed the community.
To honor the MLK Day of service, they also partnered with First Christian Community Church to give the community a space to have access to get what they need without feeling like they need a handout.
Ryan Deerbone, the co-chair of the MLK planning committee, says, “Everybody needs groceries. Everybody needs the basic supplies to live. And so if the food pantry is able to provide that for people, that’s what the end game is so that no one goes hungry. So that everyone has a chance to get the basic necessities, whether it’s cereal, food, bread, whatever it may be.”
To pick up your food, you only need a government ID. The pantry is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Thursdays from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at State Street Baptist Church.
