Woodburn Fire Department holds annual meeting
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Woodburn Fire Department held their annual meeting on Tuesday night, as it looks back on the success of 2025.
They saw an increase of 23% in the amount of runs they went on, and with a lot of growth coming in the new year, they expect to see even more in 2026.
With the addition of a new elementary school and a Publix in their district, Chief Bob Skipper says he hopes the fire department is ready for the challenge.
“The growth provides a tremendous opportunity. It gives us an increased base with our dues for funding. At the same time, it gives us increased liability. We’ve got more to cover. We will see increases in our medical calls as our population continues to grow. We’ve seen more traffic, we’ll see an increased number of accidents, so it will put a strain on the department as well as giving us plenty of opportunity,” he says.
Skipper adds that they plan on making some changes that will help them combat that growth and save their community in the process.
