Historic Ladies’ Literary Club
BOWLING GREEN, KY. – The first ladies’ literary club was established in Bowling Green, Kentucky in the 1800’s.
The current members of the club made a stop here at News 40 to fellowship with one another and for a presentation by Ashlee Wilson Quinn. For more than a century, the members consistently met, but before this club began, There was only a men’s literary club. The women who started it knew the power of books and the journey you could go on through reading and connecting with people. Anna Jo Johnson, Longest tenured member said, “It does take you on a trip to distant lands. It’s been a wonderful way for many different women. And also to share the knowledge that we have and that we have gained.”
The historic club was formed for discussions that focus on literary and historical topics and continues to enlighten it’s members with knowledge today.
