Barren County Rescue Squad hosts first meeting of 2026
GLASGOW, Ky. – The Barren County Rescue Squad held its first meeting of 2026 on Monday night, as the team prepares to start another year of helping their community.
They’ve been around for over 20 years when they responded to a drowning at Barren River Lake. That rescue led to a need they saw, and they decided to fill it.
They don’t just serve Barren County either. The Rescue Squad travels across the whole state when needed. But they can’t do it alone, as they are completely funded by those who support them.
“We’ll buy kayaks and different things with our own money, sell tickets, chances, raffle them off. Any kind of check, donation or anyways… if they do fundraisers, we’ll help, join in and do part of it, whatever,” Captain Jeff Wyatt says.
