Lady Tops Use 4th Quarter Run to Defeat Marshall, 74-65

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Western Kentucky Lady Toppers used a 14-0 run late in the 4th quarter to separate themselves from the Marshall Thundering Herd and capture their fourth Conference USA win of the season, 74-65.
The first three quarters of Saturday afternoon’s matchup were a back-and-forth affair between the two teams, but the Lady Tops outscored Marshall 29-20 in the fourth quarter to come out with the victory.
WKU has now won two straight games and four of their last five after dropping three consecutive contests earlier this year.
Senior forward Dee Givens led Western Kentucky with a game-high 24 points and Junior forward Raneem Elgedawy recorded a double double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as the Lady Tops starters accounted for 70 of the team’s 74 total points.
With the win, WKU improves to 12-6 overall and 4-3 in Conference USA play.
Greg Collins’ squad will return to Diddle Arena next week for a pair of home games against Florida Atlantic and Florida International. The Lady Tops host FAU on January 30th at 6 p.m. and FIU on February 1st at 2 p.m.
