Court order secured against solar company, says the Attorney General’s office

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Attorney General’s Office secured a court order against a solar installation company on Tuesday.

According to a release, several complaints for deceptive practices, unfinished work and non-functioning systems against Design 1 Group, LLC, were submitted.

Attorney General Russell Coleman announced a “major” court order against the company following an investigation that collected 200 customer complaints.

The release states that the company must comply with strict, court-ordered guidelines.

The Franklin Circuit Court granted the Attorney General’s Office a temporary restraining order.

According to the release, the court found Design 1 Group, LLC’s practices “unlawful conduct includes, without limitation, grossly misrepresenting the potential energy savings a solar power system can provide, misrepresenting consumers’ eligibility for tax credits, and engaging in various other misrepresentations in the course of selling solar power systems.”

The Attorney General’s Office says court documents show that the company violated laws by not addressing consumer complaints.

If Design 1 Group, LLC does not comply with the order, it may face closure, according to court documents.

“With this judicial order, we’re sending a strong message to bad actors, like Design 1, that Kentucky is not the place to do business,” said Attorney General Coleman.
