DSSKY among organizations set to receive funding from St. Teresa Ministries on Dec. 13

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky is one of five organizations set to receive some funding from St. Teresa Ministries on Saturday.

DSSKY is joining Friends of Warren County Parks and Recreation, Good Samaritan Ministries of Southern Kentucky, St. Gianna Crisis Pregnancy Home and the Family Enrichment Center in sharing more than $40,000 in funding.

The presentation takes place at a Santa meet and greet event, where each group will receive their check.

For The Buddy House, this funding means a lot. They say it’s the best part of the day for many of their members.

“They get to see their friends, they get to socialize with them, and this program is really critical for their success as individuals there. Plus we have a couple of members who actually volunteer at St. Teresa’s one day a week. So they help with bringing in the clothes to St. Teresa’s or working the floor. So it’s kind of nice to be able to give them back a little bit too,” board treasurer Vicki McClanaghan says.

That presentation will start at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, with the Santa meet and greet to follow at 11:30 a.m.
