BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The kickoff for the holidays has begun as downtown Bowling Green was officially lit up for the holiday season on Friday evening.

Bowling Green citizens gathered at both Fountain Square and Circus Square Park as well as SKYPAC to watch the city come to life with holiday cheer.

As the holiday season begins, what better way to celebrate than watching the heart of the city shine bright.

When asked about how important the event was to the community, Downtown Development Coordinator Telia Butler stated, “It’s kind of the heart of Bowling Green. So it’s a great way to kick off the holidays in the heart of the town.”

The festivities started at Fountain Square Park and then made it’s way over to Circus Square as Santa’s Village was in full operation.

Face painting, cookie making, pictures with Santa Claus himself, and even hearing some Christmas stories were just some of the fun events going on.

Santa’s Village gave those in attendance a fun environment to get into the Christmas spirit and even feel like they were in their own Christmas movie.

“It’s just special. It’s a really good way for us to get the community together and just celebrate the holiday season. Is really make, Bowling Green in our community feel like a Hallmark Movie,” said Cameron Levis, Recreation Manager for Bowling Green Parks and Recreation.

As the city comes to life with holiday cheer, it is important to remember what this time of year is all about, being with your loved ones and making those lifelong memories. Light up BG intends to do just that, helping you make those memories you will talk about years from now.

“Our goal is to just make our community a place that you can make really cool memories with your family, friends, and loved ones in the park. And we want those core memories to last a lifetime.” Levis commented.
