Skillet Curling is back in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, KY.- Skillet curling is back and bigger than ever at the SOKY Ice Rink. And social sport brings people from all over south central Kentucky out… but you may be asking yourself what skillet curling is.
Christopher Clarkson, says, “You throw skillets towards a bacon press… and the closer the skillet is… you get a point.” This social sport is similar to the curling that takes place in the Olympics for most local curlers. This helps adults get together and also makes room for some healthy competition.
Alan Sims, a pro curlers tells us, “ It’s a team effort for sure, we get strategies, and like I said we are a little competitive and so we want to win at the end.”
The ice rink started with a 1 and session and this year they doubled the fun, giving more people the chance to experience seasonal fun.
“ With the weather turning and the sun going down earlier, Its sometimes harder to find activities. it just the perfect thing to have and look forward to during the week.”
Alan also shares how it helps adults create new and exiting connections. He says, “It’s fun to play but just getting together with our friends just playing with our friends it’s night to get together and do something.”
