Natcher Elementary holds first Thanksgiving Parade
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A Thanksgiving parade took place Tuesday afternoon as Natcher Elementary held its first Thanksgiving and Holiday parade.
The Jaguars brought out all the stops as students had floats with the likes of Garfield, The Minions, SpongeBob and other characters on display.
Not only did they show off many different characters and sports, but the also brought out the Natcherettes Cheer team, JJ the Jaguar and even Santa Claus himself made appearances at the schools inaugural parade.
Natcher also took inspiration from Melissa Sweet’s, “Balloons Over Broadway” book, providing a fun yet educational experience for students before the holiday break. Teachers got copies of the book and read to their classes prior to the parade.
The school also rewarded students who haven’t missed a day of school this year by allowing them to walk in the parade with the floats.
“Students that were holding the balloons had perfect attendance,” said Karen Manley, family resource coordinator at Natcher Elementary. “This parade served many components with the literacy component, but also, next year. now that all of these students have seen these kids get to hold a balloon, we’re hoping next year that will encourage those students to continue with good attendance, perfect attendance.”
Natcher Elementary plans on returning the parade next year, making it bigger and better than before.
