‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ comes to Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – “A Charlie Brown Christmas Live on Stage” tour is making a stop in Bowling Green. The cast is spreading holiday cheer before Christmas and continuing the Charlie Brown traditions.
Kelsey Kline, who plays Sally Brown, says, “Being able to see the audience give a lot of grandparents and parents who’ve seen the holiday special on TV. They grew up watching the cartoon and they bring their grandkids to come see their first live theatrical experience. So that’s always really special to see the generational aspects of our audience.”
The heartfelt classic bridges the gap between generations, by connecting with the audience no matter how old you are.
Joshua Plante, who plays Charlie Brown, tells us, “I think the show is very special in that people will find a character, relate to that character, and see themselves in that character. And that is why it’s such a generational piece.”
Taylor Priday – Key, who plays Lucy, says, “This special has been not only around for 60 years, but so pertinent and so interlaced with tradition that it’s now able to have these generations come together and relate. Because especially in the age of social media, they’re so much like disconnect with the media where it’s like kids are referencing things that their parents and grandparents don’t understand, but it’s like we all know ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas.’”
Whether you’re watching this for the 10th time and feeling nostalgia or this is your first time watching this film, everyone can relate to the film.
Kline says, “I mean, this show is just a ball of fun and energy. We have such a good time every night performing. We are really a community on stage and I think we extend that to our audiences.”
The Charlie Brown production will be on the 25th at the SKYPAC.
