SoKY Ice Rink returns for another season
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The SOKY Ice Rink is returning for another season at SoKY Center in Downtown Bowling Green, offering new attractions, including an indoor ticket booth and relaxing snow globes for families across south-central Kentucky.
Organizers say the additions are designed to brighten the winter months and create festive experiences for visitors.
Nikki Coller, chair of the SOKY Ice Rink board, said the group wants to bring joy to Bowling Green during a time of year that often feels dreary.
“We all know it gets sad around time change, so we just want to bring joy and some fun and festive experiences to Bowling Green,” Coller said.
She added that the board is excited to reopen the rink on Friday and looks forward to the event each year. Beyond ice skating, guests can also try a unique twist on curling that has become a local tradition.
Board member Leah Spurlin said the rink has offered its version of curling for seven years.
“There are only two places in the United States where this type of curling takes place,” Spurlin said, noting they play using cast-iron skillets and bacon presses.
