Adoption Awareness Month proclamation signed at the Family Enrichment Center
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several local leaders and community members gathered at the Family Enrichment Center on Friday for a proclamation signing recognizing Adoption Awareness Month.
Each year, countless children are placed for adoption, and organizations, such as the Family Enrichment Center and CASA, work to support them and connect them with stable homes.
The event honored parents who have adopted, fostered or assisted children within the adoption system.
Family Enrichment Center executive director Nickie Jones said attendees “showed up for vulnerable kids… kids in our community that need a permanent home.”
She emphasized that permanency is something many people take for granted. Organizers said Adoption Awareness Month highlights both the need for adoptive families and the services available to children in transitional situations. They also noted that supporting children does not always mean adopting them.
More information about the Family Enrichment Center and its partner agencies is available on the organization’s website.
