Woman arrested in connection with bond scam in Allen County

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – A woman has been arrested in connection with a reported scam in Allen County.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Mary Saladin was involved in a scam.

The sheriff’s office says Saladin’s arrest in this case was the result of work from Allen County deputies.

Authorities say a resident received a phone call stating a family member had been arrested and that they needed to pay nearly $20,000 to secure his bond and get him out.

The sheriff’s office says some residents of the community have fallen victim to this scam and several others of a similar nature.

Saladin remains at the Allen County Detention Center and is charged with theft by deception – include cold checks $10,000 or more.

This investigation remains ongoing.

The Allen County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that its office nor the jail will ever call and ask for money.
