Warren County Parks and Rec teaming up with Stormwater Department to renovate Basil Griffin Park

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Warren County Parks and Recreation is teaming up with Warren County Stormwater to renovate Basil Griffin Park.

The wetlands project will improve the outdoor theater area at the back of the park.

This area has been prone to flooding in the past, and as crews begin removing fencing to start work, staff hope the renovations will both reduce flooding risks and create a beautiful space for residents to enjoy.

“It’s going to be able to better control the flooding events that we have sometimes on the back side of the park. It’s also going to provide some really nice educational wetlands that hopefully will be able to do some programming with in the future, and it’s going to look amazing once it’s finished and will be something I think the public is really going to enjoy,” WCPR director Chris Kummer says.

As part of the project, the back entrance on Smallhouse Road will be closed for the next 30 to 60 days to allow crews to work safely.

Park visitors can still access the area through the main entrance on Three Springs Road and follow the posted signs.
