BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-  This month, the Barren River Area Development District, also known as BRADD, is holding its annual donation drive.

Community members from all 10 counties BRADD serves can donate items such as puzzle books, toiletries, blankets, slip-resistant socks and more to older members members of these communities.

The drive is done each year to help those in each community the organization serves who need it most as the holiday season approaches.

“The BRADD donation drive is designed to help our most needy clients,” said Mikayla Patterson, the Aging and Disability Resource Center coordinator at BRADD. “We want to get as many items as possible out to those who are in the greatest need in the community.”

Older adults in communities across the 10 counties need assistance due to many reasons. Whether it be fixed incomes or that they have a disability, many older citizens aren’t able to do as much for themselves as others.

Through the donation drive, BRADD can help take some of the burden off of them during Christmas time, as they can provide them with items donated in each county.

“Many of our clients are homebound, disabled and a lot of them are on a fixed income. So this is good for us to be able to help provide a few extra items for them at Christmas time,” Patterson stated.

Donations will be accepted until Dec. 5 and can be dropped off at BRADD’s office located at 177 Graham Ave. You can also reach them with any questions by calling (270) 782-9223.
