Porter Parish Grainger Blues Festival to launch in Bowling Green
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- A new blues festival is coming to Kentucky, celebrating the deep roots and lasting influence of African American music.
The Jack Dappa Blues Heritage Preservation Foundation is launching the Porter Parish Grainger Blues Festival in Bowling Green later this month.
The three-day event will feature live performances, workshops and panel discussions highlighting the legacy of Black musicians.
Organizers say the goal is not only to entertain but to educate attendees on the cultural and historical significance of the blues.
Lamont Pearley, founder and director of the Jack Dappa Blues Heritage Preservation Foundation, said the event honors key figures in music history.
“Porter Parish Grainger is one of the list of significant contributions,” Pearley said. “It’s imperative for all people to see where the music comes from.” The festival will showcase both local and national talent, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary blues.
The Porter Parish Grainger Blues Festival runs Nov. 20–22 in Bowling Green.
