TJ Regional Health introduces Dreamcatcher Program to help terminal patients live dreams
GLASGOW, Ky. – TJ Regional Health is introducing a new program to help patients live out their dreams.
The Dreamcatcher Program supports patients of all ages facing critical or terminal illnesses, giving them the chance to experience something they have always wanted to do.
For instance, whether it’s visiting a special place or meeting someone important, the program helps make those dreams a reality.
Recently, the first dream recipient, Tiffany Wilson of Metcalfe County got to fulfill her dream of visiting Dollywood. Tiffany was diagnosed with colon cancer that had spread to her liver, and staff were excited to choose her as the first recipient.
“She’s a sweetheart for one thing, she’s just such a trooper, and embodies so much of what we all say would make the world a better place in terms of her attitude just toward life and toward being kind and sweet to other people,” TJ Community Mission Foundation executive director Randy Burns says.
He was able to take a trip down one day to see Tiffany at Dollywood, and he says she’s just the first of many that will be impacted by such a great program in the community.
“This program really embodies that spirit to be able to just be a source of hope and a source of joy through dark days so many families have to go through when it comes to medical challenges and diagnosis that people face sometimes. I really believe it provides a very tangible way that we can really reach out and connect with people and be able to be that source of joy and hope for so many,” Burns says.
