WKU’s Hollingsworth Named C-USA Player of the Week

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky Junior guard Taveion Hollingsworth has been named the Conference USA Player of the Week for his performances in the Hilltoppers’ wins vs Old Dominion and Charlotte.

It’s the first Player of the Week award for Hollingsworth and the first weekly award overall since he was named Freshman of the Week twice in 2017-18.

Hollingsworth is the third different Hilltopper to be named C-USA Player of the Week, joining Carson Williams and Charles Bassey.

Over the course of last week’s games, Hollingsworth averaged 26.5 points per game and shot 60 percent from the field while connecting on all 21 of his free throws.

The 6-2, 165-pound Lexington, Ky. native tied his career-high with 30 points in the Tops 80-63 win over Charlotte on Saturday and was pivotal in leading Western Kentucky to their comeback win against Old Dominion last Thursday.

The Hilltoppers have won five of their last six games and currently are tied for first in the Conference USA standings with a 5-1 record in league play.

Western Kentucky will be back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to Marshall to take on the Thundering Hurd. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
