WKU football suffers first CUSA loss of 2025, falls at home to FIU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Tuesday night at Houchens-Smith Stadium, Hilltopper football took the field with the FIU Panthers in a Conference USA midweek matchup.
WKU held a 5-1 record heading into the game, looking to become bowl eligible with win number six, while FIU was aiming to grab its first CUSA win of the season.
The first half of this game was all Panthers, as the visiting team tallied over 300 yards of offense through the first two quarters, including one touchdown and four field goals.
Tops QB Maverick McIvor threw two interceptions in the first half as well, only aiding to the early momentum found by FIU.
Opening up the third quarter, Western looked to tap into that second half team it’s been all year, but the Panther defense continued to have the Tops’ number for the rest of the game.
With a final score of 25-6, WKU suffered its first loss in the league and was held to no touchdowns for the first time in 2025.
