WKU Player of the Week: Hilltopper midfielder Mackenzie Howard

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – It’s time to announce today’s WKU Player of the Week, and earning the honor this Wednesday is Hilltopper soccer’s Mackenzie Howard.

The freshman scored her first collegiate goal on Sunday at Sam Houston in the final seconds of the game, lifting the Tops to a 1-0 win over the bearcats.

The midfielder was substituted in the game with 17 seconds left in the match, and her first touch was the goal with nine seconds left on the clock.

Howard is one of just two freshman that have scored for Western this season.

With the win, WKU moved to the top of the table in Conference USA with 10 points.

Now the team will continue its road swing this upcoming Sunday, taking on the Bears at Missouri State.
