MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – Two men are facing charges stemming from a reported scam in Hart County.

According to a uniform citation, the Hart County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint Friday afternoon from an Uber driver that had picked up a package.

Deputies say the victim had written “fraud” on the outside of a white envelope and placed it into a bag. The driver was told to deliver the package to the R & S Salvage store parking lot, authorities say.

Authorities say they observed the driver deliver the package to two males in a car with a Florida license plate.

Deputies say they conducted a traffic stop and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The citation states the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office contacted the victim, who stated they had been contacted multiple times on Friday and that the caller told her to package her debit card and that they would pick it up for investigation.

The victim then realized they had been scammed and reported the incident, authorities say.

Both male subjects, identified as 26-year-old Nickerson Baptiste and 30-year-old Gallego Entienne, both of Miami, Florida, were arrested.

Both remain at the Hart County Jail on charges of theft by extortion $10,000 or more, possession of marijuana and receipt of credit card in violation of KRS 434.570,434.610.
