Bowling Green Junior High launches JAG Program to build students’ futures

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -Bowling Green Junior High School has added a new program aimed at breaking down barriers for students and preparing them for success beyond the classroom.

The initiative is part of the national Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) Career Association,  which begins in seventh grade and continues through high school. Students are selected based on teacher, counselor and coach recommendations, often showing early signs of leadership potential.

“This age is about exploration,” said Meg Tyler, JAG specialist at BGJHS. “Students don’t need all the answers now—but they need to know what’s possible.”

Seventh-grader Joshua Tucker said the program is helping him build skills for the future.

“I’m mostly looking forward to the skills I’m going to be learning,” Tucker said. “One day I might be a YouTuber—or a cop.”

Fellow student, Iden Klein, said the program boosts his confidence.

“It helps you with leadership, how to greet people, and even prepare for job interviews,” Klein said.

Organizers hope the program gives students the tools to overcome challenges and pursue any path they choose.

“My hope is they leave with confidence and belief in themselves,” Tyler said.
