Mack twins making their mark on Hilltopper football
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As you now know, there were a multitude of newcomers added to the WKU football roster over the course of the offseason and two of those were twins that transferred from Charlotte.
Jairus Mack and Jaavan Mack have not just added to the sideline but have seen quality time playing under head coach Tyson Helton.
Jairus is coming off his best game of the year against Nevada, racking up four catches for 49 yards, and he even has a touchdown to his name from the matchup with North Alabama a few weeks back.
Jaavan will tell you that he should’ve had a pick last Saturday, but overall, his season has been solid with 11 tackles for the Tops defense.
The journey has been different for each brother, with Jairus spending four seasons at Charlotte and Jaavan shifting through the ranks from Division II to JUCO to Division I, but the senior chapter of their book landed them on the Hill, where they are proud to be today.
“ I feel like it’s like a breath of fresh air. At our previous institution, we weren’t really like on a winning team that much, so like [being on] a program that wins all the time, you know, it’s great, and doing it with my brother’s even better,” WKU wide receiver Jairus Mack said. “We played with each other last year, but being here together, it’s just better for us.”
“I was kind of like just taking a chance when I hit the portal and they seen that [Jairus] had a twin brother and they seen my practice and game film and they were like, ‘Well, he’s a good player too, so we’re going to take a chance on him,’ and I’m grateful they did that,” WKU defensive back Jaavan Mack said.
“I’m very grateful they took a chance on both of us. They made the right decision,” Jarius said.
