Charter Senior Living kicks off National Assisted Living Week
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – National Assisted Living Week is underway, and Charter Senior Living marked the occasion with its annual balloon release this September.
The tradition celebrates the support and community spirit found in assisted living facilities across the country. Residents participated in the event, using the moment to share personal stories and express gratitude for the care they receive.
Nicole Barker, life and enrichment director at Charter, emphasized the importance of social connection in assisted living environments.
“This population has a lot of needs,” Barker said. “Assisted living helps create a social environment so they’re not lonely or isolated — it helps them stay on track with their health and stay engaged in the community.”
While the week is filled with celebration, Barker urges the public to offer support year-round.
Visiting a nearby assisted living or nursing facility, she says, can make a lasting impact beyond National Assisted Living Week.
