Mustang Club officially opens in Bowling Green, offering fine dining experience
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new dining experience has officially arrived in Bowling Green, and it’s set to bring a different look to Downtown and the Shake Rag district.
“This building has sat vacant for decades, and it was kind of an eyesore… but my wife and I fell in love with it right away. So much character, and the building deserves to be saved… We were able to purchase the building in 2023 and we had 15 months of renovation for this building,” Mustang Club owner Derrick Huff says.
Located on the corner of State Street and East 2nd Avenue, the Mustang Club is what many consider a rarity for Bowling Green: a high class dining experience.
“We have a wine bar, restaurant and venue on the main floor where the gymnasium floor is, where the basketball court was… and downstairs in the basement is a live jazz and blues speakeasy lounge,” Huff says.
The response has been amazing so far, with reservations opening on Wednesday and nearly being booked up by the Friday opening. which Huff is super excited about.
But the most important question: what’s on the menu?
“We have our brunch menu, which is going to be served 10 AM to 2 PM Wednesday through Sunday, and it’s really fantastic. In between brunch and our evening menu, we have what we call our bar bites… and so it’s a slimmed down menu. We don’t have all the entrees that you would have for the dinner service, which leads me to dinner service, which starts at 5 PM Wednesday through Sunday up at the wine bar, but only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in the speakeasy,” Huff says.
Their main goal is staying true to their local roots, by offering Kentucky beers, spirits, wines, and sourcing their food from local farmers, while also offering a unique experience you won’t get anywhere else in Bowling Green.
“I think Bowling Green is poised and ready for this. For us, my wife Desiree and I, it was a kind of see a need, fill a need… and Bowling Green has needed this for a long time: an elegant place to come and relax. I’m good friends with Sean Stevens down at the White Squirrel… he likes to consider the White Squirrel Bowling Green’s living room. I like to consider the Mustang Club Bowling Green’s study or lounge… and so that’s kind of the vibe we want to set here,” Huff says.
