New movie shot in Barren County wraps production, details revealed
GLASGOW, Ky. – A new movie shot right here in South Central Kentucky has wrapped production, and we’re now learning more about it.
Back in early June, it was announced that filming would take place in Barren County, and now we can confirm it was for a movie starring Aaron Eckhart, best known for his role as Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, in “The Dark Knight.”
The film, called “Scorpion,” is an action thriller. Shooting locations included TJ Samson Community Hospital, the Glasgow Square, the Plaza Theatre and Caverna High School among others.
It turns out the movie has even more local connections than where it was shot as well:
“We had probably over 100 locals that were extras on this project… that were in paid extra roles, which was great. We had production lodging all over the place, like I said, three different counties. We had them… they were buying props, set supplies, costumes… you know, you really don’t think about how heavy the economic impact is for these, but it’s huge,” SOKY Film Commission president MacLean Lessenberry says.
A local screening of the movie is planned. News 40 will keep you updated when it’s announced.
