Kentucky Kids on the Block hosts puppetry camp

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Thanks to support from Tennessee Valley Authority, Kentucky Kids on the Block held a special camp that gave children a unique chance to write, create and perform their own stories.

The goal: to share valuable life lessons with their peers through theater and storytelling. Fifth grader Sutton Gilliam said the experience taught lessons some kids might not otherwise hear, like what’s okay behavior and what isn’t.

“Some kids may not get the opportunity to be told these things,” Sutton shared.

The camp didn’t just impact audiences—it built confidence in the kids performing.

“At first I was nervous,” said sixth grader Chloe Popham, “But now I feel like it’s just fun.”

The students performed stories about forgiveness, not trusting strangers, and many other important topics. To sign your child up for the next camp, visit the Kentucky Kids on the Block website.
