Family Enrichment Center recognized for child abuse prevention work

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WNKY) – The Family Enrichment Center, Inc. has been recognized by Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky for its frontline role in strengthening families and working to prevent child abuse across south-central Kentucky.

The recognition came during Partner Appreciation Month in June, when Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky highlighted local organizations delivering critical support to parents and caregivers. FEC was honored for its longtime commitment to parent education and family services throughout the region.

“Family Enrichment Center has provided parent education services and supports in Bowling Green and the surrounding area for several years now,” said Amanda Royer, manager of brand marketing and outreach at Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky. “They’re a key partner in the work that Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky does, and they really engage with every program and service that we offer.”

FEC’s 12-week parenting course, based on the nationally recognized Nurturing Parenting model, is open to all parents and caregivers. The program aims to build parenting skills and support healthy child development through accessible, community-centered education.

“Parenting doesn’t come with a manual or anything,” Royer said. “So providing those resources that parents can learn, learn how to parent their child and support their child as they grow, are really important to the work that we do at Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky and the work that our other partners do all across the state.”

Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky does not offer direct services itself, instead working through a network of more than 300 partner organizations across the Commonwealth.

“We really rely on our 330 partners all across the state to disseminate our information,” Royer said. “Because we believe that everyone has a role to play in child abuse prevention.”

FEC serves more than 10 counties in the region, including Warren, Allen, Barren, Hart, Simpson, Logan and others. In addition to in-person services, they also offer classes online to expand access to rural and out-of-county families.
