Metcalfe County’s food pantry at Bowling Park still going strong
EDMONTON, Ky. – Recently, we told you about updates to a food pantry in Metcalfe County. They are still running strong at Bowling Park in Edmonton.
The pantry serves nearly 130 families with resources they provide. Originally, the building was much smaller and received an upgrade during COVID, but staff knew they would eventually outgrow it again.
Park director Lisa Boswell describes some of the features it has that will help serve the community, as she hopes this is the last time they’ll have to upgrade.
“We have larger walk in coolers and freezers because through Feeding America, we are very, very luck to partner with Dollar General and Walmart… and we can do pickups. So we can provide dairy, meat, fresh fruits and vegetables through our food pantry and with the larger walk in cooler and freezer, we can hold it,” she says.
Boswell is grateful for the community’s support during the journey to get to these upgrades, and says if any other communities are interested in getting their own, connect with your city and county leaders.
