BGFC’s Tony Tinoco selected to represent the Mexican National Team (U15)

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A member of the Bowling Green Football Club Academy has been invited to play in one of the most prestigious youth tournaments in Mexico.

15-year-old Tony Tinoco out of Somerset is heading to Toluca next week to represent the Mexican National Team (U15) in a tournament called the Supercopa.

After participating in a prestigious talent identification camp called El Camino in San Antonio, Texas, last month, Tinoco was selected by the Mexican Football Federation for the honor.

But it was not until Tinoco was physically in San Antonio when he realized his dreams were coming true.

“ That connection happened when I was at San Antonio,” Tinoco said. “I was like, I’m really here and I can’t let go of this opportunity. So, that’s when I started doing my hard work on the field and off the field, trying to see what I can improve the next day and the day after that.”

Tinoco has been with BGFC for three years, and in that time, he says he’s learned what it takes to give it his all on the field.

During the Supercopa next week, scouts from the Mexican national team and Liga MX will be there, and Tinoco says he hopes to be recognized by Liga MX so he can hopefully sign with one of its clubs.

But most of all, he wants to show just how hard he’s willing to work.

“ I want to show them that anything’s possible and that everything comes at its own time,” Tinoco said. “It’s about just waiting, keep on working, and I just want to show kids that it’s really possible out here, especially from a state called Kentucky. It’s really possible.”
