Allen County Primary Center principal takes part in Leadership Institute hosted by Kentucky Chamber Foundation

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – In June, the Kentucky Chamber Foundation hosted their annual Leadership Institute for School Principals, where one local school leader got to take part.

“We were working on different skills to help us become better listeners, learners, leaders and really hone in on what it means to be a good leader of a school… and so we’ve spent a lot of time just reflecting on our own leadership styles and ways that we can strengthen those skills that we already have,” Leah Renfrow, principal at the Allen County Primary Center, said.

That Institute featured 40 principals from around the Commonwealth, as Renfrow says she’s taking a lot back to her school… including skills and relationships.

“Making sure that I’m showing up as the best version of me every day is really important. It helps with teacher morale and student morale as well as it makes me a better leader for all of our students. We are looking forward to such a great year this year… and I feel confident that not only just the skills that I learned, but the relationships that I built with other colleagues in the state is going to help me become a better leader here for the Primary Center,” Renfrow said.

She’s making history as well, as she’s the first principal from Allen County Schools to take part in the Institute, which she says is an honor.

“This school district has afforded me so many opportunities and has made a huge impact in my life, and so I am just so glad to be able to represent them well and to be able to really highlight the great things that are going on in our community and at our schools,” Renfrow says.

News 40 congratulates Mrs. Renfrow and all those who were part of the Institute.
