BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Schools are on summer break right now, but when the new year begins in August, a few schools will have some new faces leading the 2025-2026 athletic year.

First, at Warren Central High School, the Dragons have announced Anja Shelton as the new athletic director of both Warren Central and Moss Middle.

Shelton comes to Bowling Green after being the assistant director of the campus recreation facility over at Austin Peay.

Describing herself as a culture-first person, Shelton is excited to get to know the community that makes up Warren Central athletics and wants to help strengthen the Dragon identity, which includes aiming to bring in more student athletes.

Shelton also is passionate about bringing her experience with community outreach to the school.

“ I want us to be not just visible on our campus, I want us to be out in the community and for people to know who we are,” Shelton said. “I want to actually be able to create and maintain that community pride that extends outside of our campus.”

And another District 14 school seeing a new athletic director is in the Swamp where Alex Holder is taking over the duties for the Gators at both Greenwood and Drakes Creek Middle.

Holder has coached different levels of Greenwood basketball over the last 11 years, and the past few years has served as associate athletic director, so he isn’t completely new to the position.

He shared that he feels as if athletics at the schools are in a good spot, but they can always improve and get better. Knowing how competitive the district is brings excitement for Holder, and he looks forward to the challenge.

“ It’s going to be a learning experience,” Holder said. “I feel like the coaches that we have instilled in Greenwood right now will be very beneficial and I feel like we’re on the right path to being very competitive in that.”
