HOTWORX in Bowling Green offers heated motivation for Men’s Health Month
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As June marks Men’s Health Month, health experts are encouraging men—especially those over 40—to take their physical health more seriously. But getting back into the gym can feel overwhelming, particularly for those who’ve been out of practice.
That’s where one of Bowling Green’s newest fitness studios, HOTWORX, is stepping in with a fresh—and heated—approach.
“HOTWORX is a 24-hour infrared fitness studio,” said Brandon Neal, the studio’s general manager. “We have eight saunas in our studio. Four are designated for isometric workouts, and the other four are for HIIT workouts.”
Infrared fitness uses heated saunas and guided virtual sessions to intensify workouts while reducing strain on joints and muscles. The goal? Efficient, low-impact exercise that’s easier to stick with. Especially for those easing back into fitness.
According to the CDC, men are less likely than women to get regular checkups, visit the doctor, or maintain consistent exercise habits. But studies show that even 15-minute daily workouts can improve heart health, mobility, and stress levels.
“For someone like myself—I’m in my mid-50s—I try to make exercising a way of life,” Neal said. “It’s not that I feel like I have to do it—I want to do it. I see the benefits it brings, and we’re able to offer that to our members.”
One of those members is Digby Palmer, who joined Hotworx when it opened in February.
“My sleep has improved. My heart rate has lowered—especially my resting heart rate,” Palmer said. “It’s really been the thing I needed.”
Whether it’s a sauna session or a walk around the block, health experts say the key to better well-being is simply getting started. And Men’s Health Month might just be the perfect time to break a sweat—and a few bad habits.
