New Bowling Green restaurant brings ’80s vibes
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A new restaurant in Bowling Green is bringing the 1980s to life, with food made from scratch and a nostalgic feel.
Atomic Kitchen is themed entirely around characters, movies, games and experiences from the decade. From the moment you walk in, the vibe takes you back in time with music, décor and even the menu reflecting retro favorites.
“It’s straight ’80s vibe, you know, and it’s just fun,” the owner, Eric Leech, says. “We want people to smile, relax, have some great food and enjoy themselves.”
You don’t have to go far to go back in time – the new restaurant can be found located in downtown Bowling Green at Stadium Park Plaza.
Inside, the walls are filled with memorabilia celebrating classic films, vintage sports and pop culture touchstones. Guests often say they want to share these memories with their kids, creating a multigenerational experience.
“All the other memorabilia, it really invokes those classic memories,” the owner added. Located on Eighth Avenue, Atomic Kitchen doesn’t just offer nostalgia; you can see and taste—it’s also giving back. The restaurant donates a portion of its proceeds to Down Syndrome of Southern Kentucky.
The owners’ passion for service stems from years spent doing charity work abroad, especially in the Dominican Republic.
“You’re only as important to the community as you are active in it,” Leech shared.
Atomic Kitchen officially opens Thursday, June 12, and it’s already building buzz. For hours and a full look at the menu, visit Atomic Kitchen’s Facebook page.
