Bowling Green Municipal Utilities unveils new statue
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Another piece of public art went on display at the corner of Center Street and East Eighth Avenue, symbolizing one of the things Bowling Green Municipal Utilities does best.
BGMU supplies power, water and fiber optic connections to the Bowling Green community, and following the ideals of past Warren County judge-executive Michael Buchanon, the general manager decided to implement a plan on his own.
Buchanon, who helps lead Arts of Southern Kentucky for the past couple of years now has pushed the idea of art that everyone can enjoy, whether they drive or walk by.
With efforts from BGMU, the Tennessee Valley Authority and donations from the private sector, the $100,000 sculpture is now proudly on display at the company.
Southcentral Kentucky Technical & Community College manufacturing and art students brought bolt to life and will soon design two more sculptures for BGMU that will symbolize the water and fiber optic divisions, making downtown Bowling Green just a little more interesting.
