WSCO to host flag football tournament
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The first-ever ‘Battle of the Badges’ takes place this weekend.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a flag football tournament in partnership with its foundation. The WCS Foundation focuses on improving the county while promoting the community.
The friendly competition is in support of Bowling Green’s Child Advocacy Center. The organization helps victims of abuse with various professionals in the region.
The tournament is open to all law enforcement and emergency responders in the Warren County and surrounding areas.
Deputy Ramos, who entered into his position five months ago, has served in multiple states before coming to Bowling Green. He has planned similar events like this one before.
Ramos is hopeful the flag football tournament brings leaders together for a good cause. Even though this week is National Police Week, he says this is a way to “incorporate competition with also serving the community.”
Ramos adds that he is thankful for sheriff Brett Hightower and many others on supporting his idea.
While there is no admission fee, the sheriff’s office does encourage donations.
The tournament will start around 9 a.m. at Basil Griffin Park.
