Ant McAfee signs with Bellarmine men’s basketball
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – On Wednesday evening, Robert “Ant” McAfee, the 4th region boys’ basketball player of the year officially signed to take his talents to the collegiate level.
He excelled on the court as a Warren Central Dragon, but now McAfee will be the one slaying dragons, joining the Bellarmine Knights in the fall.
The senior spent just one year at Warren Central, leading the team with nearly 20 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 44% from the 3-point line this past season.
That success beyond the arc saw McAfee finish the year as the ninth best 3-point shooter in the Bluegrass, averaging 3.6 per game.
Before Central, the future Knight got his start at Legacy Christian Academy, and he spoke on how his years of experience leading different teams has helped prepare him for the next level.
“I’m glad the path I took,” McAfee said. “The road was hard, having to go to different schools and being the leader and the being on the team, is like definitely a, a heavy weight on your shoulders but I pushed through.”
