Lady Purples, Spartans claim First Region lacrosse championships
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Monday night saw a pair of championship matchups for the First Region girls and boys titles, and for the first time ever, two programs were able to hoist some new hardware on the pitch.
The Bowling Green Lady Purples continued their stellar season, staying unbeaten to be crowned the First Region girls champions, and they will take on DuPont Manual this Wednesday in round one of the state tournament.
The South Warren Lady Spartans will also be in action for round one of state, but on the road facing off with Mercy Academy.
Both Bowling Green and South Warren will begin their state title quest at 7 p.m. on May 14.
Following the girls championship, the South Warren boys lacrosse team took the top prize in the First Region, knocking off the Gators from Greenwood.
South Warren will host their opening matchup of the state tournament against DeSales this Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Greenwood will hit the road to start play, taking on DuPont Manual also on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
